LUISS Guido Carli is a private, independent university.
LUISS stands for Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali, that is Free International University for Social Studies.
In 1994, the University changed its name to LUISS Guido Carli, in the memory of its former President, Guido Carli.
The University is divided into the following four departments: Dpt. of Economics and Finance, Dpt. of Business and Management, Dpt. of Law and Dpt. of Political Science.
The university has several autonomous postgraduate schools: LUISS Business School, LUISS School of Political Economy, LUISS School of Government, LUISS School of Law, Massimo Baldini School of Journalism.
In 2007, LUISS opened a new campus, in viale Romania 32.
